TYM, one of South Korea’s leading agricultural machinery companies, announced the winners of the tractor donation program for young farmers returning to rural areas.

The project, which marks its third year this year, first began in 2020 to help new young farmers who may be experiencing difficulties with farm management as they settle in new areas. TYM states that it will continue the tractor donation program as part of its ESG management policies that aims to realize social value and co-prosperity with local communities.

TYM's support project is receiving positive feedback for its contributions to the revitalization of rural areas and agricultural development. Starting with the first donation of 10 tractors in 2020, the program has steadily increased to 12 tractors last year and 16 this year. TYM plans to continue to expand the scale of the project in order to help more young farmers in the future.

The interest this year in the program was very high. More than 2,000 applicants scattered across the country applied for the program until the very last day of application period, resulting in a very competitive pool of candidates. This year, TYM selected the 16 candidates based on criteria such as age, farmland ownership, marital status, household composition, gender, farmland type, and main crops. The selected candidates will be announced through the official TYM website, and will also be individually contacted by TYM.

A TYM official stated, "We plan to add other support programs along with the expansion of the tractor donation program to advance agriculture into a future growth industry. We hope that this will lead to a new generation of farmers and will restore the vitality of rural areas,” adding, “Just as one of last year's candidates donated the rice he harvested for a social cause, we will continue to do the same by contributing to the development of local communities and fostering a virtuous donation cycle.”
