International Women’s Day: Celebrate women in agriculture with TYM
Story
March 5, 2025
Agriculture has long been the backbone of civilization, and throughout history, women have played a critical role in feeding communities, managing farms, and driving agricultural innovation. However, their contributions have often gone behind the scenes and unrecognized. For generations, societal norms and barriers have limited women’s access to land ownership, financial resources, and leadership opportunities in the industry. Today, on International Women’s Day and beyond, growing support from policymakers and advancements in technology are helping women shape the future of agriculture like never before.

Support programs and initiatives for women in agriculture

Recognizing the challenges women face in the agricultural sector, various programs worldwide offer financial, educational, and technical support to help them thrive. No matter where you are, local policymakers, agricultural bureaus, farmers' associations, and nonprofits can connect you to these resources and opportunities. Organizations such as Women in Ag (USA), the Common Agricultural Policy Network (EU), and Korea’s Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs’ (MAFRA) Women Farmer Platform are great starting points for accessing these resources and support systems.

For example, in North America, initiatives like the USDA’s Women and Minorities in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Fields Grant Program support women and other underrepresented minorities in food and agricultural sciences. Similarly, in Europe, the EU’s CAP Network integrates gender equality measures to ensure women farmers receive the resources they need. In Korea, government-backed smart farming initiatives are encouraging more women to take leadership roles in agriculture.

Advancements paving the way for women in farming

Technology and innovation have played a major role in leveling the playing field in agriculture. Mechanization, precision farming, and data-driven tools have made farming more efficient and less physically demanding, enabling more people of all backgrounds to take active roles in farm operations and management.

TYM continues to support these advancements by designing dynamic and versatile tractors, like Series 3 that are engineered to deliver resilience and efficiency through streamlined design and high maneuverability minimizing the operator effort. Our latest tractor models, like the T4058PC integrate user-friendly controls, enhanced ergonomics, and smart technology to optimize productivity for all farmers, regardless of experience or physical strength.

In addition to powerful tractors, TYM has a history of championing underrepresented people in agriculture, including women and young farmers. From employing the elderly in our Cheongbuk factories to donating TYM tractors to young farmers starting their agricultural careers, we’re deeply committed to making agriculture more accessible, sustainable, and inclusive for all.
