A budding organization

BUILDING THE FOUNDATION FOR TYM OVER TWO SUCCESSFUL DECADES

TongYang Moolsan Co. Ltd is founded in 1951. The company begins to to import foreign films through trade.

In 1962, TongYang Moolsan Co. Ltd. merges with Fujian Company Ltd. in Korea to form Tongyang Products Co. Ltd.

In 1968, the first tableware factory is constructed in Gunsan and a light metals factory is constructed at Yangpyeong-dong. To keep up with demand, a second tableware factory is constructed in 1972. The same year, the company introduces western farming equipment in Seoul.

Stronger foundations

RECEIVING RECOGNITION ON A NATIONAL SCALE

The Anyang Agriculture Machine Factory is constructed in 1973 and is listed on the Korean Stock Exchange after six months.

Later that year, the company wins third place in the first-ever Byucksan Sports Festival. The award was received by the honorary chairman Kim In-Duek.

In 1974, the company hosts an Agriculture Machine Division Dealer Convention, hosting 120 dealers over two days in the Anyang Agriculture Machine Factory.

Later that same year, then-honorary chairman Kim In-Duek leads a delegation to the Suwon Agriculture Machine, where the company’s products were put on display and presented to the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry.

Breakthroughs

INNOVATIONS, PRODUCTS, AND SPACE TO GROW

In 1976, the company has a breakthrough with rice paddy cultivators, developed to plow, transport, pump, and thresh. The 8 hp output machine is sold at an economical price and easy to operate for everyone.

Two years later, 5 hp and 10 hp rice transplanters are developed and manufacturing officially begins. During this time, the Anyang Agriculture Machine Factory and Yangpyeong Light Metals Factory are moved to the Changwon Industrial Machinery Complex.

In 1979, the company expands into filter manufacturing, merging with Geukdong Filtron at Guro-dong.

New horizons

CREATING ROOM FOR GROWING EXPORT OPERATIONS

Manufacturing operations move to the Iri Industrial Complex in Yangpyeong-dong, Seoul.

The company receives a presidential medal for its contribution to the growth of domestic agriculture. The TS3820 becomes the first Korean tractor exported to Central America.

Hi-Yong Kim is appointed as Chairman. In 1987, the company begins supplying agriculture machinery and parts to John Deere in a $43,000 contract for cotton harvester hubs and sheaves. The company also exports a cultivator to Vietnam.

As demand grows, the filter manufacturing plant is moved from Guro-dong to Jincheon, Chungbuk. The company exports its first filter clapping machine to Southeast Asia.

Unprecedented acheivements

DELIVERING NEXT-GENERATION TECHNOLOGY TO THE WORLD

The first ever combine harvester is introduced in 1990. In 1992, the TS3840 tractor is awarded gold at the prestigious Bulgaria Prodedif World Expo. A year later, the Central Technical Research Institute and Training Facility (CIT) is constructed. The company also begins exporting the TS3840 tractor to ISEKI in Japan.

In 1994, a company office is established in China as Donghang Tongyang Products Co. Ltd. The following year, the company becomes the first in the agriculture industry to receive an ISO 9002 certification.

Approaching the 21st century, the company begins exports to the United States.

AMBITIOUS GOALS OVER A DECADE OF GROWTH

In 2000, The company’s China operations is established as Tongyang Agricultural Manufacturing Co. Ltd. in Suzhou, China.

Within a year, the company establishes two overseas offices: Tongyang Yiang Technology Co. Ltd. in Jiangsu, China and Tongyang Products Co. Ltd. in Tokyo, Japan.

In 2004, Tongyang Yiang Machinery Co. merges with Tongyang Agricultural Manufacturing Co. Ltd. in China. In Korea, Tongyang Machinery Co., Ltd. (TYM) is established as a subsidiary.

The same year, the ATC research and development center is recognized as an outstanding production research center. To serve North America, TYM USA Inc is established in Wilson, North Carolina.

In 2007, TYM establishes a joint venture in China with the Jiangsu Tongyang Engine Manufacturing Co. Ltd. CIT, the research and development center, moves to a new, state-of-the-art building in Gongju.

Near the end of the decade, the Jeonbuk Iksan Agricultural Machinery Factory is built, spanning an area of 10,700 m². The Donghang Tongyang Products Co. Ltd. and the Yeorong Dongyang Machinery Corporation undergo a merger.

Growing reach

STAYING ON THE FOREFRONT OF MACHINERY INNOVATION WORLDWIDE

TYM establishes two joint ventures in China to expand its portfolio: Jiangsu Donghua Machinery Co. Ltd and Weihai Power Tongyang Machinery Co. Ltd.

The Korean government gives TYM K-Global 300 status, recognizing it as a world-class company.

TYM begins acquisition of Kukje General Machinery Co. Ltd. to become the #1 agricultural machinery manufacturer in Korea.

A new era

TYM BEGINS A NEW CHAPTER, ELEVATING IT TO UNPRECEDENTED HEIGHTS

TYM initiates a bold brand transformation, symbolically carrying forward past and present accomplishments to answer the needs of the future.

The transformed TYM brand is the result of a powerful visual identity, communication strategy, cutting-edge sales tools, and more efficient internal processes. The initiatives are aimed at advancing the company's goals for market growth and delivering greater value for dealers and stakeholders.

The new T25 and the top-of-the-line Series 7 tractors launch, setting a new benchmark for operator comfort and machine capabilities among standard sub-compact and utility tractors.

TongYang Moolsan Co. Ltd establishes TYM ICT, a subsidiary specializing in autonomous agricultural machinery, and increases its investment in the division through the year.

In March 2021, the company officially changes its name from TongYang Moolsan Co. Ltd. to TYM Corporation.

TYM Corporation becomes the first in the industry to publish an ESG management report. In its first year of ESG governance, TYM Corporation achieves a KCGS ESG rating of B+ in 2020 and A in 2021.

TYM Corporation acquires shares in Kukje Machinery Corporation.
