TYM, a company specializing in agricultural machinery, announced on December 28th that it has successfully concluded this year’s support program for returning young farmers.

TYM has been carrying out similar support projects since 2020 to help new young farmers in their new lives in rural areas. On the 26th, TYM held a presentation ceremony for the sixteen young people selected this year. The ceremony was held online out of consideration for the participants and to prevent the spread of COVID-19. CEO Kim Dohoon and domestic sales head Cho Sungjin attended the ceremony to show their support for the young farmers and their promising futures.

The sixteen final candidates received TYM T48 and T58 tractors that can be used for various farming tasks. The compact T48 can carry out various farming tasks and shows great performance in narrow spaces. It is equipped with a four-cylinder high-power diesel engine, which will greatly improve the efficiency and productivity of any farmer. T58 tractor has excellent handling and convenience features to enable the operator to accomplish more tasks in comfort.

More than two thousand applicants from all over the country applied to the third iteration of the program, leading to a high competition rate of more than 120 to 1. Starting with just ten candidates in 2020, the first year of the project, the number of donated tractors has now increased to sixteen this year. Many new young farmers experience hardships as they settle in new areas and begin their new careers in agriculture. Accordingly, TYM plans to continue to expand its support for young farmers who represent the future of agriculture.

Lee Hyuk, a young farmer from Chungju, North Chungcheong Province, is one of this year’s candidates. Lee stated, "I’ve finally acquired a tractor after six years of farm life with the help of TYM and it’ll be put to good use.” He continued, “My wife and I will continue to work for a stable life on our farm and to help revitalize the local community.”

Kim Dohoon, the president of TYM, said, "It is important that those who have decided to start new lives as farmers are successful and help reinvigorate the countryside," adding, "TYM will be a company that supports and promotes the livelihoods of young farmers.”
